Biography

I am a highly motivated science lover who completed a BSc honours degree in chemistry at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), with an additional option in Environmental and Analytical Chemistry. Under the supervision of Dr. Jinqing HUANG, I carried out my final year research project on the Folding Mechanism of GCN4 via Single Molecule Techniques.

After graduation, I joined Dr. Jinqing HUANG's research group at HKUST, where I studied biophysical chemistry and utilised single-molecule manipulation techniques to investigate novel platinum-based chemotherapy drugs.

I recently completed an MSc in Organic Chemistry: Drug Discovery at University College London (UCL) with distinction. Under the supervision of Dr. Michael J. Booth, I conducted a research project on Temperature-Controlled In Vitro Transcription Using Thermoresponsive Hydrogels.

I am currently seeking science-related opportunities, with particular interests in pharmaceutical, molecular biology, chemical biology, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and materials chemistry. Passionate about learning and discovery, I am eager to contribute my skills and knowledge while continuing to grow as a scientist.

Why I Build This Website

Sharing what and how I learned

Some of my former classmates and students have found science difficult and complicated. However, throughout my journey of learning science, I have always found it to be a fascinating and enjoyable field of knowledge. I believe this difference comes from how we approach science and where we begin the learning process.

That's why I hope to share both what I have learned and how I have learned it, with the goal of promoting science to a wider audience. Even if, unfortunately, I am unable to become a scientist myself, I still hope that what I do can inspire more potential science lovers to pursue this path and become scientists in the future.

Throughout both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I have had the opportunity to work in interdisciplinary research groups where projects often crossed the boundaries between different scientific fields. While my formal degree is in chemistry, my research experiences have allowed me to develop knowledge and skills that extend well beyond traditional chemistry training, into areas such as molecular biology, nucleic acid chemistry, and related disciplines.

I understand that some may question whether I truly grasp these fields outside of pure chemistry. For this reason, through the work and ideas I share on this website, I aim to demonstrate my understanding across these scientific areas and to highlight the breadth and depth of my academic background.
